Next-Generation Habitat Space Design Empowered by Color Emotions

In the current era of prevailing “appearance-oriented economy” and healing consumption, consumers increasingly prioritize spatial aesthetics and emotional experiences in home environments. Tiles, once purely functional building materials, are evolving into “translators” of spatial emotions. Innovation in color, texture, and craftsmanship, which is grounded in color psychology theory and emotional design thinking, is reshaping human-space interactions, making tiles one of the crucial narrative carriers in contemporary home aesthetics.

In response to this trend, the Color Design and Application Laboratory of Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA) recently hosted the Unveiling Ceremony of the Ceramic Palette Center during the “Boundless Spring”—2025 Monalisa Tiles New Product “Wuji Stone” Launch Event held by Monalisa Group Co., Ltd. As TASA’s key academic and application support in human habitat development, the Color Design and Application Laboratory transforms years of research and practical experience into productive forces that enable to interact with enterprises and industries in the human habitat sector. Monalisa Group acts as an industry leader, striving to provide high-quality tile products. This collaboration represents a joint exploration of tile colors’ infinite possibilities in home spaces, injecting new vitality into the industry.

The “Wuji Stone” strategic product series launched will become a focus for collaboration. Drawing from the ancient Chinese philosophy of “Wuji (boundlessness),” Monalisa integrates three realms—“following the nature,” “returning to the nature,” and “harmony between man and nature”—into modern design. Through the creative transformation of stone textures and chromatic rhythms, the brand constructs a spatial narrative system bridging traditional wisdom with contemporary aesthetics.

Both parties will jointly explore diversified color expressions in domestic home spaces, establishing a complete system from chromatic parameter analysis to emotional scenario applications. By deepening research in color psychology and emotional design, they integrate scientific color systems with tile design, creating more emotionally resonant and artistic products that meet modern users’ demand for personalized spaces.

This collaboration will not only spearhead industry innovation, making architectural ceramic products and space design more humanized and aesthetically valuable but also elevate Monalisa’s brand value, endowing its products with richer cultural connotations and emotional value. The Color Design and Application Laboratory of TASA will work with Monalisa Ceramic Palette Center to better “translate” spatial emotions on the stories about tile colors, create superior home experience for consumers and pioneer new dimensions in the tile industry.
